Macadamia or Jojoba – Which Is Better for Your Skin?

When you’re choosing skincare, it’s easy to feel lost in all the different oils. Two that come up a lot are macadamia oil and jojoba oil. Both can be beautiful on the skin, but they feel very different and suit different people. Here’s a simple guide to help you decide which one might be better for you.

Macadamia Oil – Rich, Comforting, and Deeply Nourishing

Macadamia oil is a rich, slow-absorbing oil. It’s full of fatty acids that can help dry, stressed, or mature skin feel more comfortable.

Macadamia oil is great if:

  • Your skin is very dry or feels rough and flaky.

  • You like a heavier, “cocooning” feel on the skin.

  • You want something that feels protective in cooler weather

Because it’s richer, macadamia oil can sometimes feel like it sits on top of the skin. Some people love that; for others (like me), it can feel a bit sticky or too heavy, especially on warmer days or on the face

Jojoba Oil – Light, Balancing, and Skin-Like

Jojoba oil is actually more like a liquid wax than a true oil, and it’s often said to be similar to our skin’s own natural oils. This is why it tends to feel lighter, smoother, and less greasy.

Jojoba oil is great if:

  • You have normal, combination, or slightly oily skin.

  • You don’t like feeling greasy or sticky.

  • You want something that feels gentle and calming, even on sensitive skin

It usually absorbs more cleanly and can feel more “balanced” on the skin. That’s why it’s often used in products for the face and body.

Which One Is Better for You?

It really depends on what your skin likes and how you want your products to feel.

  • If your skin is very dry and you enjoy a rich, lingering softness → you might prefer macadamia oil.

  • If you want a lighter, more all-rounder oil that doesn’t feel heavy → jojoba oil is often the better choice.

Personally, I’ve chosen to focus on jojoba oil in my products because macadamia tends to stick to my skin. In contrast, jojoba feels more comfortable, lighter, and easier to wear every day.

Why I Use Jojoba in My Products

In Graceful Lilly Body Scrubs, I want you to feel pampered, soft, and nourished – but not greasy. Jojoba oil lets me do that. It’s:

  • Gentle and skin-loving

  • Light and non-greasy

  • Suitable for a wide range of skin types

In my next post, I’ll talk more about why I love jojoba, and why I call it:

“Jojoba oil – a gentle, skin-loving oil that feels light and non-greasy.”

At Graceful Lilly, your ideas come first, and your spelling comes second – so don’t worry about it too much. If there’s a topic you’d love us to cover, send us your idea at info@gracefullillybodyscrubs.com. We’d genuinely love to hear from you.
